Through its dynamic forms, this exhibition delves into the complexities of memory, emotions, and healing, inviting us to confront and embrace the intertwined narratives within our subconscious realms.

Katia Oblak, an emerging artist based in the Bundjalung country, draws inspiration from a diverse range of artistic disciplines. Her passion for music, cinema, photography, and design has shaped her creative journey since a young age. After pursuing studies in communications and media, Katia embarked on a quest to explore the world, igniting her artistic exploration.
Born in Argentina with Slovenian roots, Katia's formative years studying in Paris and residing in Barcelona left an indelible mark on her artistic sensibilities. Her artistic approach is deeply rooted in intuition and the subconscious, expressing inner emotions and memories of time and place. Through textured layers and expressive mark-making techniques, she creates depth and contrast, weaving narratives within her pieces.
Embracing a raw, free-form aesthetic, Katia crafts emotionally charged abstract paintings. Her artistic process draws inspiration from nature's kaleidoscope of colours and the liberating rhythms of music.
Guided by a "stream of consciousness" approach, her process delves into the depths of her thoughts and feelings. Without a predetermined destination, she allows the artworks to unfold naturally, revealing themselves throughout the journey of creation.
Now settled in the Northern Rivers region, Katia resides and works in her home studio. Utilizing various mixed media, she favours acrylics and oil pastels on canvas to bring her ideas to life.
